RE: [docent_users] Installing Docent from CD on a new server with IIS & APP on the same machine

Prabha,

These errors aren’t related to IIS and Docent.  These
are all Oracle configuration errors.  Try the following…

First, you must set the NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8 in you OS
environment variables (usually requires a system restart) because you are using
Oracle.  That should solve your first error.

Two, it looks like you don’t have an Oracle client
installed or configured correctly on the Docent server.  Go to Start, Run
and type sqlplusw.exe and then OK.  If SQL Plus starts, you know the
client is installed.  Enter in the login information for the Docent
tablespace/user.  If you cannot connect, you will need to probably configure
your Oracle software (SQLNet on the client and SQLListener on the Oracle server).
If you can connect, then verify that you have your dctconfig.xml is properly
configured.  The example below assumes Oracle is on a different server
than the Docent install.

<oracle

alias="oracle_remote_lms">

  <oracle_oci

        sqlnet="ORACLE_CLIENT_CONNECTION_NAME"

        login="ORACLE_USER_NAME"

        password="ORACLE_USER_PASSWORD"
/>

</oracle>

Let us know if that helps or if you still need more help.

Subject: [docent_users] Installing Docent from CD on a new server with
IIS & APP on the same machine

Hi Everyone,
We're trying out a new configuration of Docent with IIS & APP on the same
machine. I am unable to bring up the login page even after ensuring that the
configuration settings match the working docent settings on another server. I
am receiving these 2 errors in the log file and as a result, the docentlms.exe
and docentadmin.exe are not showing up in the task manager. The tnsnames.ora
points to the correct DB and the config file has the same DB settings as well.
Has anybody seen this before? We installed Docent 6.5 from CD and copied the
latest exes and code files over (equivalent to our service pack) from the
working server. The task manager has docentsupervisor.exe and docentdispatcher.exe
only

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
