RE: [docent_users] question about sessions

Ellen,

Try as I might, I’ve never seen the code that writes/reads
drSession or been able to fully prove when it is really used.  I suspect
that it is used by the binaries.

Have you tried clearing your cookies?  Have you looked in
docentcfg.xml for any references to the old domain?  But I suspect it’s
your registry that is holding the old domain name.  There is a reference in
the registry for the Supervisor service to be able to locate the
dispatcher.  It’s under HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Docent\DocentSupervisor.
There’s a couple of parameters that contains the path the Supervisor
service and the dispatcher name.  I suspect that both your host and
dispatcher names may be using fully qualified names and include the old domain
name.

Lastly your IT guy probably already check this, but just in
case, have you checked your local host/LMHosts file on the server? They’re
in windows\system32\drivers\etc by default.

Subject: [docent_users] question about sessions

We have been asked to change the subdomain that
is used by our Docent app server. We've gone
through every file on both the web and app servers and changed

"ourserver.subdomainA.domain.com"
to
"ourserver.subdomainB.domain.com".

We have also changed it in the DRSystemInfo table and DRSession table in the
database.
We had the IT guy remove the old subdomainA dns entry for our test server so
that we could test if
this is going to work. It does not: We are getting an error on attempting to
log in:

Network subsystem: host ourserver.subdomainA.domain.com not found.

We absolutely cannot figure out where it is getting this subdomainA from?

Also we can't figure out where it writes the session row to the DRSession
table. Is that function hidden
away in the binaries? If so, where is it picking up the domain to write?

Thanks,

Ellen
