[sumtotal_users] Re:8.0?

Kelly,

Ahhh, the joy (and pain) of being an early adopter. Given the modest history of upgrades I've been through (specifically with ST), you just have to accept that there will be bugs for you to "help" SumTotal work through. From what you write, it seems like you are part of a large organization...Would it be possible for you to pilot 8.0 with a small segment of your population before going live globally?

Otherwise, I would take a hard look at the actual benefits of being one of the first to upgrade. What do you get in return? Is there a way for SumTotal to give you better pricing based on being one of the first? Basically, what's in it for you (besides a free tee shirt that reads "I took the plunge - SumTotal 8.0").

Folks in the learning community will be watching SumTotal carefully with this release. I don't know if you all read The eLearning Guild reports, but they just issued one on all the major LMS players. SumTotal was at or near the bottom of the list in pretty much every category (functionality, customer satisfaction, etc.). If the release of 8.0 doesn't live up to expectations, I see a lot of people abandoning ship.

Just food for thought...let us know what you decide to do. And I hope others will weigh in with opinions, ideas, etc, on the adoption and diffusion of 8.0...

Joe
