[docent_users] AICC through a firewall?

Hi again!

One of our departments wants to buy a bunch of courses that will be hosted by an outside
vendor. I haven't worked much with AICC and am wondering if it is possible to get such
courses working with Docent? I would have thought that maybe if the course gets
downloaded, and all communication is from the browser back to docent, things would be
fine, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

I've tried varying the AICC version numbers in the course structure file, and I get different
behaviors out of docent:

v. 6: (what the CRS arrived with) causes the docent to try to launch the aicc_frameset on
the outside server. Of course it doesn't exist there, so you get a 404.

v. 2.0: launches the course directly but the aicc_url does not have an http:// on it.

Then I noticed this note in lib/aicc.jsm
" Update the CRS version of the course structure file to 3.4 or later to
indicate to the LMS that the aicc_url is to be specified as a full URL."

So, I tried v.3.4:

v. 3.4; Docent went back to launching the aicc_frameset in the wrong spot so I hardcoded
it (this is a test server) to launch the aicc_frameset on the lms server. When I launched the
course, it did indeed create the entire aicc_url, including the http://. But there still is no
communication.

I am sort of stuck - is there any way around this?

Thanks,

Ellen
