While I haven't implemented the CDS option on 7.x myself, I do recall hearing from those that had. The way it was described to me was that the CDS continues to operate, and the CDS content is launched from TotalLMS as external AICC content. While that seems workable for some, perhaps most, content, there are some things that aren't going to work (such as CDS reports) that could have an impact depending on how you use the CDS.
There is a company "Catavo", who advertises a migration process for CDS/Outliner content to SCORM. Depending on what your needs may be, this could be another option.
