Hi,
We are currently reviewing our test strategy for load and stress testing and I would like to know if anyone on here has carried out this type of testing on your 6.5 install.
We currently are looking at testing for load/stress using the below targets:
1) Identify max/good threshold number of users that can carry out the same functionality
2) Identiy areas of concern by carrying out the above
We are going to use Load runner to assist with this, but before we jump in 'too deep' I would like to get a feel for how other Docent Admins are tackling this task
Many thanks for your help
Sandeep
Stress / Load Testing on
Hi Sandeep:
I assume you've already gone through the "Docent Enterprise Performance and Scalability" document and methodology and found it wanting, is that correct?
There is also an equivalent white paper for TotalLMS, which at first glance appears somewhat more rigorous, but based on a more detailed review leaves much unanswered. For example, why such a long tail on the long-response-time end of things, even with a relatively light workload? It seems likely there are some pathological conditions, potentially deadlocks or other cross-dependencies, that significantly impact performance even when not extensively stressed. Anecdotal feedback heard at the STS TotalConnections conference reinforced this concern in my mind.

Stress / Load Testing on
Hey Joe! That is very interesting there is a Docent Enterprise document. I have not seen this and have not been advised about it.
Can you point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Stress / Load Testing on
Well, don't expect that much, I'm not impressed by it, but it is something to start with...
The filename is: wp_DE_PerformanceScalability.pdf
It's revision 1.1, dated April 2001. As far as I can tell, it isn't on the CPC, but hopefully you can get a copy from Docent Tech Support, or through your SumTotal Systems sales rep.
