Live Blogging from TotalConnection2007 - Part 1 (updated)

8:30 am - Don Fowler

Don talks about talent management as an investment in employees. This conference represents an investment in doing what's needed to maintain knowledge and skills as the world and workforce changes. Talks about future talent challenges due to demographic changes. "SumTotal will be by your side" in this change. Handheld training. Online simulations. Investing in technology for talent management add-ons. 'Expand reach in your organization'...

Committed to 'best of breed' strategy. Not abandoning learning for talent managment. Not abandoning perpetual licenses.

8:42 am - Bill Perry

Added new SumTotal Systems news feed...

I've added a new SumTotal Systems news feed, in addition to the feed from ToolBook.org, namely the Yahoo! Financial news feed. While over there checking a few stock prices (including SUMT), I noticed they have RSS feeds by ticker, and I picked up their feed for SUMT. It appears to have more than what comes over from ToolBook.org, but whether we need both or not may take some time to decide.

Drupal 4.7.0 released...

The new 4.7.0 version of Drupal was released yesterday. From reports, the new version has improved performance, and a number of new structures/features that are fairly desireable. I will be working on testing and eventually a site upgrade as time permits.

Preliminary Profile Page

I have added a preliminary profile page that allows you to share information about your current LMS platform, operating environment and any additional information about your organization. Take a look at 'my account' and select 'edit', then look across the tabs and click on 'My LMS System Platform'.

Live and out there...

As you probably know if you are reading this, I put out the public announcement for this new LMS CommunitySpace site today just short of 2 PM or so CDT. About two hours later, there are a fair number of member sign ups already, and several folks have gone out of their way to comment positively on the site so far.

Thanks to all for the encouragement!

There's much work yet to be done. I'd like to get more help files up, and more instructions added to the various content creation page headers, to make it less confusing for members to add their own content here. That's a goal for next week, I think.

Link to docent_users is now online

Ok, I've got the linkage from docent_users to the local forum area working for incoming messages. I think we will keep it one-way for the moment.

Ok, preliminary taxonomy is online, along with core forums structures...

The start for the core taxonomy of the site is now online, along with the basic Forum sections. This will evolve as the needs of the community change.
